Although you can walk into Tavira from
the villa and then in Summer catch the ferry to the The beach at Tavira stretches west nearly as far as Fuzeta 14 km away, and is enormous, backed by sand dunes with bar/restaurants facing the sea. The beach is on Isla da Tavira an island beach connected to the mainland by boat. In summer you can catch the small ferry boat from the river in the centre of town. Alternatively you can walk or drive beside the river to the ferry terminal at Quatro Aguas where there are also small taxi motorboats which will take you to the beaches for a small cost. |

Alternatively you
can drive to Pedras del Rei near to Tavira, and catch the fun open train
which takes you to the beach. Many people walk to this beach (about 10
minutes) from Pedras del Rei. There are restaurants, and beach amenities at
this beach. From all the Tavira
beaches you can walk along to a great expanse of open beaches. |

Drive to
Cabanas about 10 minutes away, and small four person boats will ferry you to
the beach. Cabanas also has a number
of cafes and restaurants, and has a pleasant seaside walk. Other fine
sandy beaches within 20 minutes drive can be accessed directly, without a
boat ride, at Altura, Manta Rota, Praia Verde and other smaller
spots. And of course you can drive
westwards to the beaches at other Further east
is Monte Gordo which is set on an expansive white beach, where there is a string
of bars and cafés. |
